You can totally fly with wine in your bike case! Put the bottle in a sleeve or leg of the wetsuit, then wrap up in he rest of the wetsuit. I brought back several bottles of Argentinian Malbec after racing down there a few weeks ago.

I had a pro stay with me for a month and they washed all the dishes, vacuumed the floors and mowed the yard.  That probably is going a bit above and beyond though...

If the homestay has any kids, one easy gift would be give them any race swag you don't want. You probably don't care at all about your 80th race t-shirt, backpack or other assorted junk but a 10 yr old will find it awesome.

@Kelly O'Mara I sacrificed a pair of running shoes, a tire, and a whole bunch of food to make room/weight for the wine. So maybe not advisable when traveling TO a race after all.

@Kelly O'Mara you said in this article "Do you know how much a set of bike tools costs instead? Maybe $60, if you get the Gucci Allen keys."

Could you rank these in order of their value to the sport of triathlon: Tim Allen keys, Mark Allen keys, Woody Allen keys, and Alicia Keys?
Also, would you call any of them a tool to their face?
